The estimation by the World Bank that 100 million people in developing countries are pushed into poverty yearly by high health care expenses is proof enough of the need to support health care access in Africa. Add to this the facts that according to WHO medicine prices in developing countries are up to 17 times higher than international prices and 67% of the population cannot afford the essential medicines for the 4 important chronic diseases. For Africa health care quality is also a serious concern, as up to 60% of the medicines in some countries are counterfeit.
With such great need for health care funding in Africa, charitable communities in the US and Europe are seeking established channels for distribution of their aid. DiaspoCause, the charity arm of DiaspoCare, is such a channel. In its partnerships with giving communities, DiaspoCause shares with them its platform, which is purpose built to create and operate dedicated health care funding accounts that can only be used to pay for medicines and services at reputable pharmacies and vetted health care service providers. Through this relationship the giving institution is guaranteed:
By partnering with giving communities and using technology and advocacy, DiaspoCause will increase access to quality affordable medicines and health care services.
By 2030, 60 million Africans currently excluded from the health care system will have access to affordable quality medicines and health services through DiaspoCause.
